Objective Connect now allows you to add a new version of a document, and view a history of prior versions. Instead of simply replacing a Document in your Share when you upload an updated version, each changed Document is added as a new version.
When you work with a Document, the latest version is used. So it's business as usual when you are using Connect in your day to day tasks. With the introduction of versioning, you have the following new actions available:- View a version history and see who uploaded changes to the Document and when. The version history stays with the Document, should you rename a Document or move it to another Share, the version history is still available. If you delete a Document, the version history is deleted along with it.
- If you have the correct permissions, you can also download any of the older versions to see what changes have been made.
- In the case that you want to make an older version current, you can easily revert an older version to make it the latest.
- If your Share is linked to Objective ECM using the latest Connect Link v2.1, as you create versions of your Document, they will be synchronised into Objective ECM as draft Documents.
- If your organisation is using Objective Connect for Windows, updating a document in your Connect folder will be synchronised as a new version of the document in your Objective Connect browser application.
